Our “Paraclete”

The Holy Spirit

John 16:7 “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. (NKJV)

Paraclete (pair-uh-kleet)

The word Paraclete is a transliteration of the Greek word Parakletos, which means “one who speaks on behalf of or in favor of “as being an intercessor, advocate, counselor; a “helper”.

John 15:26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. (NKJV)

The Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity and has several functions in the life of a believer:

1. The Holy Spirit is a Paraclete (pair-uh-kleet) our helper who teaches and reminds.

John 14:26 “Jesus told his disciples, “the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you”

2. The Holy Spirit (lives) dwells in believers and fills them.

1st Corinthians 3:16 “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?”

3. The Holy Spirit is a (true) source of revelation, wisdom, and power.

1st Corinthians 2:10-11“These are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except for their own spirit within them? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God”

Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

4. The Holy Spirit (leads) guides to all truth, including knowledge of what is to come.

John 16:13 “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”

5. The Holy Spirit (freely) gives spiritual gifts to believers.

1st Corinthians 12:7-11 “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.”

6. The Holy Spirit, Paraclete (pair-uh-kleet) helps in a Christian’s weakness and intercedes for them.

Romans 8:26-27 “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”

Lord Jesus, thank you for sending a helper that is a constant source of what is needed in our lives as believers, in Jesus name…Amen!

Faith Is

Faith”

Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Father in heaven, I pray that faith as would be seen as now…

Romans 10:17 “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Father in heaven, I pray that when Your word is heard faith will come immediately…

2nd Corinthians 5:7 “For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Father in heaven, I pray that walking by faith will become second nature in Your peoples lives…

Matthew 17:20 “So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Father in heaven, I pray that unbelief will become belief by having faith…

Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Father in heaven, I pray that You would be pleased with those who come to You in faith believing...

James 1:6 “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.

Father in heaven, I pray that doubt would not interfere with someone asking in faith…

Matthew 21:21 “So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done.

Father in heaven, I pray that mountains will be moved by faith…

Who you are in God’s eyes

Your Identity

1st Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; Vs. 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.”

What’s more important? How (people) man sees you or how God sees you?

According to 1st Peter 2:9 and 10 this is how God sees us:

  • Chosen…to set apart (but not better than)
  • Royal priesthood…God given authority
  • Holy nation…God is not a respecter of persons, being a nation means you are united with others like yourself
  • His own…God looks at you as His very own
  • Special people…God given gifts and talents
  • Gave clear vison in darkness…God wants His people to see clearly, even in darkness
  • Have His mercy…God loves so much, His mercy endureth for ever

1st Peter 2:4 “Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious.

  • It’s very important that you know who you are and whose you are.
  • Knowing your name is important, but knowing your identity is also important.

“One might ask, how do I show my appreciation to God for these blessings?”

The answer is found in:

Psalm 139:14 “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

We give God praise for His marvelous works.

The bible also describes us as Kings and Priests:

Rev 1:6 “and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

  • Kings…rule over a kingdom
  • Priests…One who is designated an authority on religious matters

We honor God when we walk in the authority of how he sees us.

Titus 2:14 “who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.”

“Father in heaven, we give you the praise glory and honor that you so rightly deserve. Thank you for loving us and choosing us to a chosen generation, in the name of Jesus…Amen!
