Perfect Peace

“Perfect Peace”

John 16:33 “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

Many times we can feel over whelmed with everything that is going on around us and sometimes wonder “why is this happening to me?” If we are not careful we can easily get caught up in what is going on in the world and loose our focus on what we need to do to obtain and keep “perfect peace.”

If we allow fear to be our main focus, it will be extremely difficult to obtain the victory over tribulations that come our way.

There will be individuals around us that might be experiencing the same tribulations that we are experiencing, but are allowing fear to control what they see and how they feel.

Mark 4:41 “And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”

This was the response from the disciples when they were on a boat in a storm on the sea after Jesus rebuked the wind, and spoke to the sea.

Mark 4:37 “And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling.”

Mark 4:39 “And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”

As believers, we have the authority to speak to storms, trials and tribulations and command the presence of “perfect peace” to rule in the place of fear and experience freedom from disturbances or unrest.”

Philippians 4:6,7 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Vs 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

The “peace” of God surpasses all understanding. When others around you allow themselves to be overwhelmed by what is happening, and you are calm because of having “perfect peace”, this type of peace will not be understood by those around you. It is hard for them to understand why you are not acting, or behaving the way that they are, and the question might even be asked about you “what’s wrong with them, don’t they see what’s happening?”

“With peace comes strength”

Isaiah 26:3,4 “You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You” vs 4 Trust in the Lord forever, For in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.”

Because of God’s grace and mercy, He will provide strength with His peace. All we have to do is keep our mind on Jesus.

“With peace comes safety”

Psalms 91:1,2 “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him will I trust.”

Because of God’s grace and mercy, He will provide safety with His peace. All we have to do is trust Him.

“With peace comes rest

Matthew 11:28 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Because of God’s grace and mercy, He will give us rest with His peace. All we have to do is come to Him.

Lord you said in your word that you have overcome this world that we live in. Thank you for the “perfect peace” we can have that comes from only you…in Jesus name. Amen!

The Name Jehovah

Have you called Him by His Name Lately?

Isaiah 26:4 “Trust ye in the Lord for ever; for in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.”

As a little boy I can remember when my mother would call me. When she called me by my first name, I usually would answer “yes Mam?”

If she called me by my first and middle name, I knew I had done something that shouldn’t have, and there was a possibility that I was in for some type of discipline.

Researching the names of God is one of the many ways we can discover what God is like, and obtain an understanding of who He is.

Psalm 83:18 “That men may know that thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the most high over all the earth.” (KJV)

In the Old Testament, Jehovah is one of the most important names for God. When we call out the name Jehovah, we are acknowledging that this is his personal name, along with expressing His eternal and sovereign nature.

Believers can call on the name Jehovah by itself, and also can be more specific for the need that they are coming to God for, by adding an attribute of God to the name Jehovah. So I ask this question, “have you called Him by His name lately?”

If you need provision, call on the name Jehovah Jireh…
If you need healing, call on the name Jehovah Rapha…
If you need a banner, call on the name Jehovah Nissi…
If you need peace, call on the name Jehovah Shalom…
If you need a shepherd call on the name Jehovah Rohi…
If you need righteousness, call on the name Jehovah Tisidkenu…
If you need to experience God’s presence, call on the name Jehovah Shammah…

John 14:13-14 “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.” (KJV)

O God, we your people stand on Your word believing that when we call out the name “Jehovah” You hear us and will answer in Jesus name…Amen!

Wake-Up Call

Has the world been given

a wake-up call?

Revelation 3:20 “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” (NIV)

People that travel on business and staying overnight at a hotel, will often use a “wake-up call” service that many hotels provide. When checking in, a person can request that a “wake-up call” be made to the person’s room at a specific time.

This wake-up call is made to insure that the person the call is being made to, wakes up in time to start getting ready and make it to their scheduled appointment on time. When the hotel makes the call, the hotel has done their part to wake the person up.

If the person that the call is being made to does not answer the phone and get out of the bed when they receive the call, it is possible that they will either be late or miss their scheduled appointment.

2 Chronicles 7:14 “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”(NIV)

I want to ask the question, is it possible that God has allowed this COVID-19 to be a wake-up call to the world? God may not always cause something to happen, but He can allow all things to happen.

Could it be that those of us that have been so busy with enjoying the pleasures in this world, have not heard the wake-up call that God has been making to us?

Focusing or getting caught up in the pleasures of this world such as money, security, or material items that we possess, can very dangerous and distracting. They can easily get our attention away from God.

1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” (NIV)

As born again believers, we are in this world but not of the world. We have to remain focused on whose we are, and at-tentative to hearing God’s voice that has called us into His wonderful light.

John 5:24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.”(NIV)

Daily reading of the bible and meditating in the word of God, will help with hearing what God is saying.

Romans 10:9-10 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

I encourage you, the next time you hear your phone ringing, don’t screen the call or let it go to voice mail, answer the phone professing your faith…it just might be a wake-up call from God.

This Is Only A Test

“This Is Only A Test”

John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (NIV)

While watching different programs on the television, at times I have seen an announcement come across the top of the TV screen making the statement this is “only a test.” The purpose of the announcement is to give the viewer instructions on what to do in the event of a storm, emergency or a crises that might be happening at any given time.

I noticed that this announcement has been made, no matter what type of program I was watching on the television at that time. This announcement blocks out the audio on the program that is being watched, so that your attention will be directed to what is being said in the announcement.

Hebrews 13:17 “Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.” (NIV)

Many of us are experiencing a time now in the world that we would have never thought we would experience in our lifetime. The freedom of living and going about things as we normally do on a daily basis, has either been changed to a minimum, or not being able to do what we normally do at all. Many have had to make the adjustment of social distancing when out in public, being quarantined, working from home or being furloughed on their jobs.

We as believers should be walking by faith, being obedient to those who rule over us, and using wisdom in our walk. Let us take every opportunity that we have, to look at this COVID- 19 virus as “only a test”, and use COVID-19 to help us focus on how to use the word of God, as a daily lifestyle that will enable us to come out victorious.

1st John 4:4

Father God, thank you for your peace and comfort during this time. We stand on your word and claim the victory, in Jesus name…Amen
