Messianic Prophecy

Wonderful Counselor

Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

Isaiah was a prophet in the Old Testament that prophesied about the coming Messiah, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Many have said that the book of Isaiah contains more references to the coming Messiah than any other book in the Bible. It has been considered to be a major prophetic book in the Old Testament.

Isaiah 9:6 is one of many “Messianic prophecies” that not only tells of the Messiah coming, but describes who He is and what He will do:

A Son is given (Emanuel)…..He came as a Gift

He has a responsibility…Government

Has several names:

Wonderful….excellent / great

Counselor….someone who gives guidance, teaches or gives encouragement / having supernatural wisdom

Mighty….possessing great power and strength

God….the great “I AM” being everything

Everlasting….eternal, never ending, lasting for ever

Father….having the nature of protecting / providing

Prince of peace….ruling with dignity and authority

The Lord Jesus Christ fulfilled the Old Testament Messianic Prophecy in several of the New Testament books:

Born in Bethlehem [Mica 5:2, Matthew 2:1]

Anointed by the Holy Spirit [Isaiah 11:2, Matthew 3:16-17]

Ministered in Galilee [Isaiah 9:1, Matthew 4:12-16]

Rejected by Jews [Psalm 118:22, 1st Peter 2:7]

Betrayed by a friend [Psalm 41:9; John 13:18]

Rose from the dead [Psalm 16:10, Mark 16:6]

“Father in heaven, thank you for the fulfillment of the messianic prophecy that prophesied the coming of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ…Amen”

Your Comfort Zone

Your Comfort Zone

Image result for picture of a comfort zone

Genesis 12:1-3 “Now the Lord had said to Abram: Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

A comfort zone can be a situation in which you feel no threats of harm or danger, and when your ability or determination is not being tested.

comfort zone can also be an area where you don’t have to try anything difficult or new, because you like things just the way that they are at the present time.

Many times a person can be living in a comfort zone unintentionally, and feel that there will be a risk in moving out of that comfort zone to unfamiliar or untested areas. Change does not come easy for many people and there are basically two ways to move out of a comfort zone:

1. A decision is made on your own to make a change.

2. God calls upon you to take a step of faith and trust Him.

In Abram’s situation, God calls upon him to “get out” of the comfort zone that he was in. There are several other things that have to be taken into consideration with Abram leaving his comfort zone.

First God gives Abram clear directions and instructions;

“Now the Lord had said to Abram: Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.”

Second God makes several promises to Abram;

A promise of increase.

“I will make you a great nation”

A promise to become well known.

“I will bless you And make your name great”

Then God gives Abram A prophecy;

“And you shall be a blessing”

God continues to speak into Abram’s life with additional promises;

“I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

The only way that Abram would receive what God had for him was for Abram to obey God, and that meant getting out of his comfort zone, and having faith that God would do what He said He would do.

As I stated earlier is this blog, there will be times when a decision has to made on our own to get out of our comfort zone. The pandemic of COVID-19 has not only disrupted the routine of a person’s daily life, COVID-19 has also caused people to have to make the decision to get out of their comfort zone.

Social distancing, quarantine and mass shut in, are just a few of the adjustments that will had to be made once a person has gotten out of their comfort zone. This is a time when our faith in God can be put to the test. Once we are out of our comfort zone, will we walk by faith, or what we see?

“Father in heaven, You did not bring us this far to leave us. We pray that You will continue to lead and guide Your people with making any adjustment that have to be made being out of our comfort zone. We give You the praise, the glory and the honor in Jesus name…Amen!”

Return To Sender

Return To Sender

Romans 8:1″There is therefore now no condemnation to those to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”

On an occasion, mail will be delivered to an address when the person that was living there has moved, and has a new address. The person that is currently living at the address will sometimes write on the envelope or package; “return to sender” and that envelope or package will be returned to the person or company the sent the mail.

Romans 8:33 “Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.”

A person does not always have to accept what is sent or given to them, and also does not have to accept what has been said about them, or what they have been accused of.

Revelations 12:10 “for the accuser of the brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.”

Believers have to recognize both the power and the authority that they have, and use that God given power and authority to be victorious when they are being accused, or attacked by the enemy.

2nd Corinthians 2:11 “lest Satan should take advantage of us, for we are not ignorant of his devices.”

Believers have to remain vigilant of what is going on around them.

Isaiah 54:17 “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgement you shall condemn.”

The next time the enemy forms a weapon, or makes a false accusation against you, just say the words “return to sender” and shout to the Lord with a voice of triumph claiming the victory…Hallelujah!

Lord Jesus, thank You for the power and authority You have given your believers to live victorious lives free from false judgements and accusations…in Your precious name. Amen!
