God’s perfect system

Proverbs 3:5-8  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil.
It will be health to your flesh,
And strength to your bones.”
(NKJV)

Most of our vehicles and smart phones today have a GPS tracking system installed from the factory. This GPS can assist both with navigation, directions and tracking by a chip that has been installed. We can enter the address of the destination that we want to go to, and these systems in our vehicles and phones, assist the user with getting to their destination.

This system has a voice that verbally gives the listener directions on how to get where they want to go. The listener places their trust in this voice for correct directions to get to their destination.

The Holy Spirit is “God’s GPS.” Just as a person listens to the natural voice in the GPS for directions, they should also trust and listen to the supernatural voice of the Holy Spirit for spiritual guidance.

Proverbs 3 verses 5,6.7 and 8 gives a description of how God’s GPS works in the lives of believers.

Proverbs 3:5 and 6 give instruction and advice to the reader.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Many times a believer can make the mistake of “leaning on their own understanding” without trusting God to lead and guide them. When we acknowledge God in the lifestyle that we live, we are exhibiting both trust and faith that He will direct our paths.

Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a Lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (NKJV)

Proverbs 3:7 gives both caution and a warning.

“Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil.

The caution is no matter how good it may look, we should not be “wise in our own eyes” but see things as God would have us to see them. The warning means to reverence God with a healthy “fear of the Lord” that assist us with “departing from evil”.

Psalm 23:4 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

Proverbs 3:8 tells us that we will be “in good health” and have the “strength” that is needed to continue on the path as God directs us.

It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.”

God, thank you for the Holy Spirit that leads and guides your people with your perfect GPS. I pray that your people continue to trust in You, leaning not on their own understanding, and continue acknowledging you in everything that is done, in Jesus name…Amen!

He is able

He is able

Jeremiah 32:27 “Behold, I Am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?

There is nothing too hard for God. We often put limits on God who is limitless. God is:

Omniscient — All knowing having unlimited knowledge.

Omnipresent — Being everywhere at the same time having unlimited presence.

Omnipotent — Having unlimited power.

Ephesians 3:20 “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” (NKJV)

Fear and doubt will cause someone to think that God is not able.

Faith and hope will cause someone to believe that God is able.

Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” (NKJV)

No matter what happens in a person’s life, God’s providence is working for the good of those who love Him, and are being obedient to what God has called them to do.

Genesis 18:14 “Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.”

Because God is able, a person can believe the unbelievable. God will make it happen, at the appointed time.

Jeremiah 32:17 “Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.”

God is the creator of all creation, by Him all things are made.

Philippians 4:19 “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (NKJV)

God is able to provide everything that will ever be needed, His resources are unlimited. With God there is no lack or running out of resources.

Lord Jesus, I believe what it says in your word that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, and nothing is too hard for You. I believe that You are all power, all knowledge and all presence at the same time. You are the great “I AM” and are able to do anything but fail. Thank you making your face to shine upon your people in Jesus name…Amen!

Unchanging

Unchanging

Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (NKJV)

Depending on the location where a person is living, they will experience a change in the weather according to the season. This change of weather gives some individuals an opportunity to enjoy different activities outdoors. Sometimes a change can be for the good, and sometimes a change can be bad.

Malachi 3:6 “For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.” (NKJV)

Christians serve the one God who is unchanging. The same grace, peace, mercy and long-suffering that God has given His people all down thru history, is still available today. That is because God is unchanging.

Psalm 102:27 “But You are the same, And Your years will have no end.” (NKJV)

God is eternal, and His people can count on him to always do what he says He will do. The past, the present, and the future are all equally known to Him. He is the Alpha and the Omega.

James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” (NKJV)

Every gift that comes from God is good, perfect and unchanging. God’s gifts will always be adequate, complete, lacking nothing and beneficial to those that are receiving. There is no variation of God’s gifts.

Hebrews 7:24 “But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood.” (NKJV)

Believers can have the certainty of Jesus not changing and being the high priest forever. Jesus remains the same yesterday, today and forever.

Hebrews 1:10-12 And: “You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands. 11 They will perish, but You remain; And they will all grow old like a garment;12 Like a cloak You will fold them up, And they will be changed. But You are the same, And Your years will not fail.”(NKJV)

O God, in the world today, things are constantly changing. Thank you for being the one and only God that remains unchanging, in Jesus name…Amen!

Self discipline part three

Self discipline part three

Temptation

1 Corinthians 10:13“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” (NKJV)

Temptation is something that entices, attracts or appeals strongly too, that implies a promise of obtaining a greater good by following a way of disobedience.

No one is exempt from being tempted and at one time or another, a person will experience temptation. If a person yields to temptation, they can experience negative consequences to not having good self-discipline.

Galatians 5:16 “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”  Vs.17 “For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.”(NKJV)

A person that is walking in the Spirit will get the strength from the Spirit to exercise good self-discipline, and not yield to temptation.

A good method that can be used to identify temptation is to think (part one “your thoughts and way of thinking”) about the consequences that will be experienced after acting, or yielding to temptation that is before someone.

Matt 26:41 “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”(NKJV)

The flesh usually gives “right now gratification” and will not show the later consequences. This “battle” between the Spirit and the flesh can happen on a daily basis, therefore has to be fought daily. The Holy Spirit is always willing to help the believer with fighting this battle.

1 Corinthians 15:31 “I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily. (NKJV)

And winning these battles daily, can give a person the victory of winning the war.

Romans 8:37 “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (NKJV)

The believer can be more than conquerors over temptation because of the love that Jesus has for us.

1 John 4:4 “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (NKJV)

The Holy Spirit that lives within the believer, gives strength to overcome worldly temptations.

“Lord Jesus, thank you for giving us all that we need to remain victorious over temptation…Amen!
