The Bible

Before

Leaving

Earth

The answer or solution to any problem that a person encounters in life can be found in the Bible. It is the road map that guides people out of a world of darkness, hopelessness or despair.

Psalm 119:105  Thy word is a lamp unto my
feet, and a light unto my path.”
(KJV)

A ship at sea that has been caught in a storm, will be tossed to and fro with the blowing of the wind, if the ship has no rudder or anchor. So, the same can be with a believer in the journey of life if they are not grounded or have no sense of direction.

The Bible will keep a believer anchored when they encounter a storm and will serve as a rudder to help with navigating through deep, and dangerous areas when trials or troubles come their way.

Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (KJV)

We should read the Bible:

  • daily
  • study it regularly
  • share it freely
  • quoted it when needed

The Bible will

  • Satisfy your hunger
  • Quench any thirst that you have

When a person reads the Bible, then applies that scripture in their lives, defeat turns into victory.

James 1:22-24  But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.(NKJV)

A Pastor that has went home to be with the Lord often opened Bible study asking everyone to stand, lift their Bibles up, and repeat after him saying;

This is my Bible

“I am what it says I am

“I can do what it says I can do

I can be what it says I can be”

“I am the head and not the tail

“I am in the front and not the back”

“I am healed and not sick”

“I am to lend and not borrow”

“I am on top and not the bottom”

Thanks be to God who always causes me to conquer”

“Heavenly Father, thank you for the Holy Bible that gives your people “Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.” As we read and study your word, I pray that it will give your people strength, courage, wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Let the words that are written in the Bible take root in our hearts, minds, soul and spirit, and then grow bearing much fruit for your Kingdom. In Jesus name…Amen!

Shake It Off

Shake It Off”

But he shook off the creature into the fire...

Acts 28:5 “But he shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm”

Danger can be all around and sometimes disguised as something innocent, presenting no harm. This type of danger often will be right in front of people, but yet unseen.

Acts 28:1-6 records how the Apostle Paul dealt with a danger that came upon him, and also describes other people’s view and reactions to what happens.

1 Now when they had escaped, they then found out that the island was called Malta.

Vs 1 A place of refuge

2 And the natives showed us unusual kindness; for they kindled a fire and made us all welcome, because of the rain that was falling and because of the cold.

Vs 2 First impression “displayed unusual kindness”

3 But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

Vs 3 Many times when you are trying to help, evil will be hidden in plain view and then attempt to attach itself to you.

4 So when the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped the sea, yet justice does not allow to live.

Vs 4 People are always “watching and talking” and often times are fickle, changing frequently. Especially as regards to loyalties, interests, or affection…bouncing around from one side to another. People who are fickle are not firm or steady in affection, behavior, opinion or loyalty. Sad to say but the reality of it is…a lot of times you just can’t trust them due to the fact that they are ever changing.

5 But he shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm.

Vs 5 If or when evil attempts to attach itself to someone, it would be a wise decision to follow Paul’s example. Not only did Paul “shake off” the creature, he eliminated it from returning and bothering him again by using the fire to destroy it.  Because Paul took this course of action, he suffered no harm and eliminated the possibility of this problem returning to harm him again. Being hesitant about confronting danger, or something that is attempting to harm you can have lasting consequences. A person has to also deal with danger in a way that it cannot not return again to harm them.

However, they were expecting that he would swell up or suddenly fall down dead. But after they had looked for a long time and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god.

Because people can be fickle at times, the same people that accept you, can change their feelings that they have toward you in the twinkling of an eye, and condemn you. They will often expect a negative outcome about problems they see you experiencing. Once they see that you are victorious, they will again change and put you on a pedestal and make you into what they want you to be in their eyes.

Lord Jesus, thank you for being an ever present help in the time of need…Amen!

The Name Jehovah

Have you called Him by His Name Lately?

Isaiah 26:4 “Trust ye in the Lord forever; for in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.”

As a little boy I can remember when my mother would call me. When she called me by my first name, I usually would answer “yes Mam?”

If she called me by my first and middle name, I knew I had done something that I shouldn’t have, and there was a possibility that I was in for some type of discipline.

Researching the names of God is one of the many ways we can discover what God is like, and obtain an understanding of who He is.

Psalm 83:18 “That men may know that thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the most high over all the earth.” (KJV)

In the Old Testament, Jehovah is one of the most important names for God. When we call out the name Jehovah, we are acknowledging that this is his personal name, along with expressing His eternal and sovereign nature.

Believers can call on the name Jehovah by itself and also can be more specific for the need that they are coming to God for, by adding an attribute of God to the name Jehovah. So, I ask this question, “have you called Him by His name lately?”

If you need provision, call on the name Jehovah Jireh…
If you need healing, call on the name Jehovah Rapha…
If you need a banner, call on the name Jehovah Nissi…
If you need peace, call on the name Jehovah Shalom…
If you need a shepherd call on the name Jehovah Rohi…
If you need righteousness, call on the name Jehovah Tisidkenu…
If you need to experience God’s presence, call on the name Jehovah Shammah…

John 14:13-14 “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.” (KJV)

O God, we your people stand on Your word believing that when we call out the name “Jehovah” You hear us and will answer in Jesus name…Amen!
