Identity Theft

John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (NKJV)

Identity theft can happen both in the natural and in the supernatural.

Identity theft in the natural happens when someone deliberately uses another person’s identity, or credit to gain a financial advantage for themselves.

By stealing a person’s identity, this often takes away the buying power from the person whose identity that has been stolen, leaving them at a disadvantage or loss.

The person who’s identity that has been stolen, can sometimes be held responsible for the perpetrator’s actions limiting the person’s buying power to make purchases.

Identity theft in the supernatural can be described as taking a believers identity in Christ.

Someone might ask the question “what is my identity in Christ?” The answer can be found in the following scripture;

1st Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;” NKJV

One goal of the enemy is to try to steal a believer’s identity in Christ. If the enemy can accomplish this, not only is the believer’s identity taken, but a believer’s power and authority can also be lost.

Many times people will base their identities on what they do (from their jobs to their roles in relationships), defining themselves by these pursuits.

Many people struggle with their identity as a Christian because they do not know who they are in Christ. The enemy can often cause confusion or distractions by getting a believer to identify with other things which can easily lead to “supernatural identity theft.”

A believers identity defines who they are as a Christian and with that identity, believers can encompass the abundance of being a beloved child of God. Who are you in defines your identity, and that can be a question many people struggle to answer.

Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinketh in his heart so is he” (KJV)

The way we think, and the thoughts we have as a believer, will reaffirm our identity as being;

A child of God

Ephesians 1:5 “He predestined and lovingly planned for us to be adopted to Himself as [His own] children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the kind intention and good pleasure of His will—” (AMP)

A citizen of heaven

Philippians 3:20 “But [we are different, because] our citizenship is in heaven. And from there we eagerly await [the coming of] the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;” (AMP)

A new creation

2nd Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]. (AMP)

Lord Jesus, thank you our identity that we have in You, …Amen!

Seeking God

“Seeking His presence”

I have noticed on several occasions robins hunting for worms and after doing some research, I found it to be quite remarkable of how they find them. Basically, robins have 3 methods of finding worms. Robins find worms by;

  • Vision—they turn their heads to one side and focus on the dirt moving, or to see if the worm is coming out of their burrows.
  • Sound—they listen for movement of worms in the ground
  • Touch—they stand still to be able to feel movement of the ground under their feet

These methods are effective with how the robin finds worms.

The 1st most important step for the robin is to seek the worms that it wants to find, because the worms do not come to the robin on their own. If the robin does not go in search of seeking the worms it wants to eat, the robin will go hungry.

Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him”.

As it is with the robin being diligent with seeking worms, we must also be diligent when we are seeking God.

One might ask “so how do I seek God”? Again as with the robin having several methods of seeking worms, we have several methods of how we can seek God;

We can seek Him thru prayer

2nd Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land”.

We can seek Him with fasting

Matt 6:17,18 “But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; 18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly”.

We can seek Him with our praise

Psalm 150:6 “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord”!

We can seek Him with the reading of His word

Psalm 119:11 “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee”.

We can seek Him by being sitting quietly, and being still to listen for the sound of His voice

Psalm 131:2 “Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child”.

We can seek Him with our worship

Matt 2:11 “And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh”.

God is not a respecter of persons, He will acknowledge whoever comes to Him seeking His presence

Matt 7:7,8 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened”.

Abba Father, give me the strength to remain diligent about seeking you. In Jesus name, Amen!

Power of Fasting

Power of Fasting

Matthew 6:17-18 “But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” (NIV)

Fasting is; the willful refrainment from eating solid food or drinking liquids for a specified period of time. The word fasting comes from the Anglo-Saxon word faesten, which meant “to hold oneself from food.”.

Fasting usually is done for one of two reasons: some individuals fast for spiritual reasons and some individuals will fast in order to lose weight. While fasting to loose weight can help a person with weight loss, there may be very little if any spiritual benefits that will be attained.

Spiritual fasting is a biblical way to truly humble yourself in the sight of God, and can enable the Holy Spirit to reveal where a person is spiritually.

Spiritual fasting will help with focusing both our minds and our bodies on the word of God.

Spiritual fasting can provide unique spiritual benefits in the life of the believer, and will require self-control and discipline, as one denies the natural desires of the flesh.

While a person is on a spiritual fast, their focus should be on Jesus not abstaining from food.

The way a person starts a spiritual fast is very important. Begin the fast by preparing your mind, heart, spirit, and body, and have a clear purpose for the fast. It will help to have a goal, and what you hope to gain from fasting.

Next, and ask the Lord to reveal the motives of your heart, and any areas in your life that He desires to change.

Isaiah 29:13 “The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.
(NIV)

Also prepare your spirit for your fast. Prayer and worship will draw us close to God. The key to any spiritual preparation is intimacy with Jesus.

John 15:7 says, “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.”

Your body can be prepared for fasting through careful considerations and planning. At least three days before a fast is started, any type of red meat should not be eaten. Also a few days before your fast, a person can get their bodies ready by reducing their food intake. Start eating raw fruits and vegetables, and avoid foods that are high in fat and sugars.

Fasting can help give you to power to obtain the breakthrough you are seeking.

Matthew 17:14-21 “And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying, 15 “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. 16 So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.” 17 Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” 18 And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour. 19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” 20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

Lord Jesus thank you for the power of fasting…Amen!

Power of Prayer

Power of Prayer

Hands, Praying, Worship, Belief

Matthew 21:22″And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” (NKJV)

Prayer is one of the most powerful resources that a Christian has at their disposal.

Psalm 121:4 “Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep”

Because we serve the only one and true living God, that “neither slumbers nor sleeps”, we can go to Him at any time with prayer.

Many have asked different questions about prayer:

How do I pray?

When should I pray?

How often should I pray?

Is it OK to have others pray for me, and can I pray for others?

Will God hear and answer me when I pray?

A basic definition for prayer is “talking to God.” Prayer is the primary way for a believer to communicate their feelings and desires to God, and can also serve the purpose of giving thanks or praising God.

Praying is also fellow-shipping and building a relationship with God. When we pray, we are demonstrating our faith, trust and dependence upon God. Praying can be done in private or public, and can be done audibly or in silence.

Acts 16:25-26 “But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.” (NKJV)

The power that a person has when they are praying is not limited to just them. That power can have an effect on others also. God not only freed Paul and Silas but the other prisoners that were in the jail with them were freed also. As we read down further is this passage of scripture, salvation also took place. The jailer and his family were all saved.

Acts 16:30 “And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. (NKJV)

The effective, fervent prayers of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16). Moses was a righteous man and the leader of God’s people. On many occasions, the people would turn to Moses in a time of need.

Numbers 11:1 and 2 records one of those occasions;

“Now when the people complained, it displeased the Lord; for the Lord heard it, and His anger was aroused. So the fire of the Lord burned among them, and consumed some in the outskirts of the camp. Then the people cried out to Moses, and when Moses prayed to the Lord, the fire was quenched.”

Prayer has the unlimited power to change things, I encourage you to not let that power go to waste.

Father in heaven, thank you for the awesome power of prayer in Jesus name…Amen!
