Walking In The Spirit

Galatians 5:16 “I say then walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”  [NKJV]

By walking in the Spirit, you are allowing the Holy Spirit to be in control of your total being. The Holy Spirit is controlling your thoughts, vocabulary and actions.

When a person is walking in the Spirit, they are displaying a lifestyle that represents the presence of the Holy Spirit being in control.

The greater power

1st John 4:4 “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

The Holy Spirit gives the believer the power to walk in the Spirit. Even though the flesh can be considered powerful, the Holy Spirit has the most power.

The best weapons and protection

Putting on the full armor of God gives the believer both protection and the weapons that will help the believer who is walking in the Spirit.

Ephesians 6:11, 12 “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Vs. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

  • The belt of truth
  • The breastplate of righteousness
  • The gospel of peace
  • The shield of faith
  • The helmet of salvation
  • The sword of the Spirit

Galatians 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is, love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, Vs23 gentleness, self-control.”

People will notice something different about the person that is walking in the spirit. What they are noticing is the fruit that the person is bearing.

Luke 6:44 “For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. Vs43 For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit.”

Prayer: Father in heaven, thank you for giving all that is needed to walk each day in the Spirit, in Jesus’ name…Amen!
